Mohawk to Close Tennessee Ceramic Plant

Washington, DC, November 7, 2006--Mohawk Industries said in its quarterly report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday that it will close its Jackson, Tennessee mosaic tile plant, incurring a $4 million charge in the process. The report said that severance and other closure charges account for $1.3 million of the total charge, and the remaining $2.7 million is a non-cash asset impairment charge. The company said it expects it will incur another $2 million related to separate restructuring activities in its Dal-Tile segment.
