Mohawk Streamlining Commercial Carpet Segment

Calhoun, GA, Aug. 13, 2009--Mohawk is realigning its commercial carpet manufacturing operations.

Roughly 75 manufacturing and logistics jobs at Mohawk's Laurens Park facility in East Dublin, Ga., will be relocated to Mohawk's Glasgow, Va. facility.

Other positions at East Dublin will be moved to Mohawk's existing northwest Georgia operations and to North and South Carolina.

The entire realignment will be completed by April 2010.

"We are transitioning to a leaner, lower cost structure to emerge in a stronger position when the industry improves," CEO Jeffrey Lorberbaum said during Mohawk's earnings call with analysts.

"We are rightsizing our commercial assets to reflect the industry decline."
