Mohawk Seeking Nominations for GreenWorks Award

Dalton, GA, Sept. 2, 2001--Mohawk Industries will begin accepting nominations for its second annual GreenWorks Dealer of the Year Award on Sept. 8.

The GreenWorks Dealer of the Year Competition pulls together Mohawk’s community of retailers and customers to recognize a spectrum of green and sustainability practices.

Any flooring retailer or contractor may apply for the award. Individuals are allowed to nominate themselves or anyone else.  Multiple nominations are allowed to be submitted by the same person, but only one nomination form will be considered for each nominee.

The award is based on three key criteria, including profitability, impact on the local community, and sustainability.

The Dealer of the Year will receive a professionally-produced, custom television commercial staring HGTV star and Mohawk “handyman” Chip Wade, or a donation for the sustainable cause or project of his or her choice.

Nominations can be submitted online through JustMeans.com, a social responsibility website.

Nominations must be received by October 15.

“The purpose of this award is to reward retailers who are taking steps to become more sustainable companies, while expanding the conversation about green and sustainable options in flooring” said Jenny Cross, Mohawk’s residential senior sustainability manager.  “We want as many people involved as possible.”

Cross said that most stores already have practices in place that would make them eligible for the award.

The judges include Chip Wade of HGTV’s Designed to Sell and Curb Appeal; David Cross, founding partner of Abeo Partners; and Mike Hughes, of Kelly’s Carpet Omaha, winner of the inaugral award last year.

Judging will begin by Oct. 30, with a winner announced no later than Nov. 16.
