Mohawk Reschedules 4Q Earnings Release

Calhoun, GA, December 23--Mohawk Industries, Inc. is rescheduling its fourth quarter 2004 earnings release from February 10, 2005 to February 15, 2005 due to additional requirements under Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act. The conference call is rescheduled to February 16, 2005 at 11:00 am. The Act specifies additional procedures by both the company and its auditors that may require more time to complete the year-end closing and audit than what has historically been experienced by the company. The company expects to comply with all requirements and is allotting time for the additional procedures.
