Mohawk Recognized by Save Energy Now Program
Washington, DC, Dec. 2, 2009---Mohawk Industries was recognized in a ceremony today as a charter member of the Department of Energy’s Save Energy Now Program.
Mohawk has voluntarily pledged to reduce its energy intensity use by 25% over the next decade.
Save Energy Now is a national initiative to drive a 25% reduction in industrial energy intensity in 10 years. This initiative is sponsored by the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) to reinforce energy efficiency as a profitable business model and expand markets for new energy technology.
ITP is working in partnership with other federal agencies, companies, associations, suppliers, states, utilities, and universities to enhance industry outreach and access to resources.
“We are proud to be part of this program, and to work with the DOE to find ways to make our company—and others—more efficient and more competitive,” said Bill Kilbride, Mohawk’s Chief Sustainability Officer.
