Mohawk Provides Flooring for A&E’s Dream House

Dalton, GA, Apr. 7--Mohawk provided flooring for the Art and Entertainment Network’s “House of Dreams” reality show, which combines the suspense of elimination with the beauty of great home products. “House of Dreams” pits 16 contestants against each other and their own home building abilities. Contestants were required to help build their own “house of dreams” on a site located in Harmony, FL. At the end of each episode, contestants were given keys to the front door, with two keys not working. The group then chose which of the two would be “evicted,” or voted off the show. At the end of the show, a final contestant was selected by a jury of previous contestants, and this person won the completed House of Dreams, deed and all. Contestant Viveca proved to be the ultimate contestant and winner. According to the A&E website, Viveca, 37, is a circus juggler with degrees from Harvard and Yale. Described as “a funny, amicable gal on the surface, she is a consummate thinker who analyzes every point of view before making decisions.” She competed for the House of Dreams to have more time for other pursuits, and also to give her fellow circus friends a place to get some rest. Mohawk provided a total flooring collection for the House of Dreams, including foyer tile (Folingo and Noce), hardwood for the parlor, dining room, kitchen, and family room (Hartford Hickory and Wild Hickory); carpet for the bedrooms (Flambe and Candlelight), and tile for the baths and laundry room (Veranda Almond). “We see programs like this as a great opportunity to build the Mohawk brand and showcase products that are great for specific applications,” said Ed Williams, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Mohawk. “We were very pleased to be able to show a national television audience that Mohawk offers floorcovering products that can be used in any area of the home.” A&E is continuing to rerun episodes of “House of Dreams,” and the network heavily promoted the show, including show-specific advertising in Good Housekeeping Magazine.
