Mohawk Plant Gets Environmental Certification

Marietta, GA, April 6, 2009--The Mohawk Group said that its East Dublin, Ga. manufacturing facility has received ISO 14001:2004 certification to the environmental management standards of the International Organization for Standardization.

The certification recognizes companies that successfully reduce environmental impact while maintaining profitability.

“Achieving ISO 14001 certification is the latest milestone in our ongoing efforts to incorporate sustainability in every aspect of our manufacturing process from start to finish,” said Al Kabus, president of The Mohawk Group, which includes its four brands Karastan Contract, Lees Carpets, Bigelow Commercial and Durkan.

Following a comprehensive audit of the facility’s environmental-related processes, including manufacturing and business practices, the company demonstrated an effective, systematic approach to ensuring minimal environmental impact.

The East Dublin manufacturing facility now joins the company’s previously certified Glasgow, Va., and Landrum, S.C., facilities.
