Mohawk Named “Green” Contractor Of The Year

Arlington, VA, Oct. 30--Mohawk Industries has been selected to receive the Excellence in Partnership Award presented by the Coalition for Government Procurement together with the GSA Federal Supply Service and Federal Times. Mohawk's win came in the category of Green Contractor, and, according to the award criteria, the contract floorcoverings manufacturer was chosen for its "best overall commitment to the environment by either offering environmentally-friendly products and services, or adhering to environmentally sound manufacturing and/or operating procedures." This is the fourth year the Excellence in Partnership Awards have been presented, and Mohawk was one of only four other top corporations to be honored in the Industry classification. This marks the third award conferred upon Mohawk Industries for its contributions to the environment in the past six months. In May, the company received the Evergreen Award from the U.S. General Services Administration(GSA) and its National Furniture Center (NFC); and, a few months following,it was named winner of the 2003 Environmental Leadership Award given by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
