Mohawk Makes Key Appointments in Hard Surface Unit

Dalton, GA, February 15, 2006--Mohawk Industries has named Brian Carson to the post of as president of its Hard Surfaces division. He will report to Monte Thornton, president of the Mohawk Flooring Division. 

In addition, Mohawk has appointed of Rik Born as vice president of Eastern sales for Hard Surface products.

Carson’s primary focus will be to build on the momentum that Mohawk has created for its hardwood, laminate, ceramic, and resilient products, in both sales and profitability.  Carson will continue to direct the development of Mohawk’s dedicated Hard Surface sales organization.  Before joining Mohawk, Carson worked for Armstrong World Industries, rising from an engineer’s position to plant management, international manufacturing, and ultimately to the head of North American sales for resilient and hardwood products. 

A graduate of St. John’s University and Brooklyn Polytechnic, Carson and his wife, Donna have two daughters.  He resides in Kennesaw, GA.

Born also comes from Armstrong World Industries, with nearly 30 years of experience in positions including vice president, residential flooring sales, and president, installation products division.  In his new position, Born will provide sales leadership, expertise, and management for Mohawk’s southeast, northeast, Ohio Valley, and north central regions.  He will report to Bob Leahy, senior vice president of Sales-Hard Surfaces.

Born has served as a board member for the National Association of Floorcovering Distributors.  A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Born lives in Lancaster, PA with his wife, Diane and their two children.
