Mohawk Leases New Jersey Warehouse

Calhoun, GA, August 11—Mohawk has struck a deal to lease a 617,000 square foot distribution building in Teterboro, N.J., about 15 miles from Manhattan. According to one of Mohawk's real-estate brokers, the company decided against moving its distribution facility about 50 miles south, where the average annual rent is about 30% less, because it wanted to retain current employees, and the additional trucking costs to Manhattan and its other Northeastern markets would have outweighed the real-estate savings.
