Mohawk Group's Glasgow Plant Noted for 80 Years of Good Citizenship

Calhoun, GA, August 20, 2015—Mohawk Group’s manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Virginia has been recognized by the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors for 80 years of service to the community.

In a resolution issued in July, the board applauded Mohawk Group’s efforts to create a healthy business environment in Glasgow and its commitment to good corporate citizenship.

The board of supervisors also noted Mohawk Group’s dedication to innovation and sustainability, which has had a big impact in Glasgow. Conservation of the beautiful James River in Glasgow is part of Mohawk Group’s sustainability efforts. The company has engineered significant portions of the Glasgow facility to be as environmentally sensitive as possible and has changed its manufacturing process to reduce nitrogen emissions by more than 65% (since 2006) and phosphorus levels by over 75% in the water used in the manufacturing process. That means purer water is going into the James River, which eventually flows into the Chesapeake Bay.

Mohawk Group’s Glasgow plant, which produces mostly carpet tile, also has been awarded the Virginia Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award (GEEA).
