Mohawk Expands DreamVision Function on Website
Dalton, GA, February 26, 2007--When Mohawk reworked its consumer website in 2006, the company included a variety of interactive features that gave consumers the ability to better understand floor coverings and to visualize how they would look in a home.
Now Mohawk is taking things a step further, with an enhanced version of its “DreamVision” room design tool.
With the click of a mouse, Mohawk DreamVision allows a consumer to see how a variety of flooring choices might look in a room. The web visitor can select floorcoverings, trim, and even wall paint to see how a dream room could look. DreamVision offers a variety of room settings, including bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, entertainment rooms, and other choices. The visitor can even select the furnishing style—contemporary, casual, or traditional—to get an even better idea of how her room will look with just the right flooring and other design treatments.
When the service debuted in 2006, it featured carpet and ceramic tile. Now Mohawk DreamVision has been expanded to include hardwood and laminate, giving consumers even more design choices and ways to literally “see” how flooring can make over a room.
“Consumers can go to a car website and see how every color looks on a vehicle. They can shop for clothes and look at every pattern available in a shirt. Mohawk DreamVision provides that same instant understanding of the fashion value of flooring,” said David Duncan, vice president of marketing for Mohawk.
And like other “design it yourself” websites, DreamVision allows consumers to print out their dream rooms, save them for future reference, and even e-mail them to friends. “There are thousands of possible combinations,” Duncan said. “With DreamVision, it’s easy for a viewer to experiment and zero in on the flooring choices that make the most sense.”
Coming Soon: Consumers Own Room Photos
For consumers who want a more precise view of how new floor covering will look in their homes, there’s another feature to Mohawk DreamVision that will be available shortly: the ability to enter their own photos of their rooms and allow Mohawk DreamVision to apply different flooring, wall, and trim treatments.
“Imagine being able to snap a few digital photos, upload them to a DreamVision folder, and re-make your entire home,” Duncan said. “Mohawk DreamVision now lets consumers see new flooring in this type of detail—complete with style names and colors. They can then locate Mohawk dealers from our website, and walk into the store already confident in their purchase decision.”
