Mohawk Elects New Director

Calhoun, GA, Mar. 5--Mohawk Industries, Inc. announced today that Ms. Phyllis O. Bonanno was elected to the Board of Directors effective February 26 and was nominated for election to a three year term to be voted on by stockholders at Mohawk's annual meeting in May 2004. Commenting on Bonanno's appointment, Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum, President and Chief Executive Officer stated, "Bonanno brings very valuable in-depth business and international experience to our Board of Directors. We look forward to her assistance in helping Mohawk maximize opportunities especially as we become more active in international business. We are very pleased she has agreed to join us." Bonanno is the President and CEO of International Trade Solutions, Inc. a consulting firm located in Washington, DC. She is also a director for Adams Express Company, Borg Warner Inc., Petroleum and Resources Corporation, and the non-profit Canadian American Business Council. From 1997 to 2000, she was the first woman president and chief executive officer of Columbia College, a private liberal arts institution located in South Carolina. From 1986 to 1997, Bonanno served as a corporate vice president for international trade at Warnaco, Inc., a worldwide apparel manufacturing company.
