Mohawk, DuPont Sorona, Win Eco Award

Calhoun, GA, March 31, 2008--Mohawk Industries Inc. and DuPont Sorona won the 2007 DuPont Sustainable Growth Excellence Award for the commercialization of Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona polymer, a high performance residential carpet.

The award includes a $5,000 grant award, which will be donated by Mohawk and DuPont Sorona to the Conasauga River Alliance, an environmental protection group for the key Dalton water source.

Mohawk and DuPont in 2005 began an exclusive partnership to manufacture a new line of residential carpet incorporating DuPont's newest polymer technology. The carpet, manufactured by marketed by Mohawk, is known as SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona polymer.

The carpet reduces the need for oil by using renewable ingredients.
