Mohawk Credit Program Boosts Average Ticket

Dalton, GA, April 24, 2007--Mohawk Industries believes that, in addition to providing its dealers with quality products, it should also offer tools to help dealers build business.   One of the most powerful of these is Mohawk’s Consumer Finance Program, which has been proven to increase average sales, promote the purchase of better-quality goods, and build customer loyalty.   “The numbers speak for themselves,” said Lisa Ownbey, Director of Marketing Services for Mohawk.  The average cash sale in the floorcovering industry is $600.  The average sale on a bank credit card is $750.  The average sale on a private label credit card is $2,600.”   Ownbey said that the Mohawk Consumer Credit program provides a consumer with an instant line of credit of up to $12,000.  A “meet the sale” feature allows dealers to indicate the total cost of the flooring purchase when the consumer applies for the credit.  The card is co-branded with the dealer’s store name, which promotes repeat business and the application process is quick and easy.  Dealers can link the simple application for the credit card to their store websites, or consumers can apply direct at www.mohawk-flooring.com.  Financing is non-recourse, which helps reduced the store’s risk and exposure, and sales are funded within 48 hours, which improves the store’s cash flow.   In addition, enrolled dealers can get substantial discounts for financing select Mohawk products during promotion periods throughout the year.  Free POP materials call attention to the Mohawk Consumer Credit Card option, and data from sales is collected and stored so that additional offers can be made to consumers with the Mohawk Credit Card in the future.   “This program is one that every dealer should take advantage of,” Ownbey said.  “The benefits for both the dealer and the consumer are powerful.  If, for example, the Mohawk Credit Program adds $1,500 per sale to just 20 transactions a month, that’s an increase of $360,000 in sales for the year—or a thousand dollars a day.” The Mohawk Consumer Credit program is conducted in a partnership with GE Money Bank, one of the nation’s leading providers of private label credit card programs.  GE Money Bank has worked in the floorcovering industry for more than 20 years, and also provides credit programs to major companies outside the flooring industry, including Ford Motor, Sony, Pep Boys, Suzuki, and many more.    For a limited time, Mohawk University and GE Money Bank have teamed up to offer a free training CD, “Selling With Credit,” to dealers who enroll in the Mohawk Consumer Credit Program.  This award winning training program provides comprehensive details about using a private label credit card to boost sales and improve customer satisfaction.
