Mohawk Closing North Carolina Spinning Plant
Raleigh, NC, June 28, 2011 -- Mohawk is closing a yarn spinning plant in Laurel Hill, according to newsobserver.com.
Mohawk notified state officials that it is permanently closing its plant and layoffs are slated to begin Aug. 22, Mohawk told the N.C. Department of Commerce.
The plant was acquired by Mohawk in 1993 as a part of the Karastan acquisition from Fieldcrest; however, it had not supplied Karastan with yarn for many years.
