Mohawk Closing Dahlonega Manufacturing Plant
Atlanta, GA, April 8, 2008--Mohawk Industries has notified the Georgia Department of Labor that the company plans to close its manufacturing facility in Dahlonega, GA, in June, affecting 366 workers. The plant produces filament carpet yam.
Mohawk, like most carpet producers, has been hurt by the housing slowdown and rising costs. Mohawk had net income of $706.8 million on $7.6 billion in sales last year, compared with net income of $455.8 million on $7.9 billion in sales in 2006.
