Mohawk Announces Regional Dealer Meetings
Dalton,GA, October 13--Mohawk’s decision last year to expand its regional dealer meeting schedule was an unqualified success, according to company executives. So Mohawk has again announced a schedule of more than 40 meetings across the country to introduce its new products and programs, and allow dealers to work closely with their reps to plan for 2005. "We saw more dealers and did more business with this meeting format than we thought possible," said Ed Williams, senior vice president of marketing for Mohawk. "And we learned some things that will make this next set of meetings more successful for the retailer and Mohawk." Beginning in December and running through February, the schedule is designed to accommodate dealer needs in each Mohawk distribution region. A common theme, "Scaling New Heights – National Product Tour 2005," will unite the meeting content for all events. There are different types of events scheduled, ranging from single city - multi-day events to traveling shows that will cover specific areas in a single day. Each event is designed to accommodate geographic regions and the dealer’s availability. The regional meetings make travel easier for dealers, allow Mohawk to spend more one-on-one time with its customers, and let retailers concentrate more on individual business opportunities. Williams said the goal is to provide dealers with the best possible atmosphere to see new Mohawk products, learn new ways to build business, and have time to work closely with their territory managers and senior management. "We’re creating an opportunity for retailers to sit down with the Mohawk personnel who have a vested interest in their success and have the time to plan things for the coming year that will make a difference in that store’s progress. "For some lines, like hardwood and ceramic, it’s critical to work on a regional—if not a local—basis,” he said. "In smaller regional meetings, it’s possible to do this, and we think this approach helped many of our dealers this year." Williams also emphasized that in addition to product, dealers will have ample opportunity to take advantage of Mohawk support services such as Mohawk University. "This was a very popular element of last year’s meetings, and when dealers have the opportunity to bring more of their key staff to a regional show, our education message becomes stronger and we think the entire industry benefits." In addition to the regional events, Mohawk will continue to hold other events, such as its town hall meetings and national conventions for Mohawk Floorscapes, Mohawk ColorCenter, and Karastan dealers.
