Mohawk 19th on Training Magazine List
Dalton, GA, February 11, 2008—For the second consecutive year, Mohawk Industries has been selected to Training Magazine’s “Top 125” training organizations, ranking 19th among Fortune 500 companies.
To qualify for the list, company training organizations are measured on various critieria, including training tied to business objectives; leadership development programs; tuition assistance to employees; number of trainers and subject matter experts; certification programs; and others.
This year’s overall winner was PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mohawk jumped from its ranking of 64th last year. Mohawk was praised for its New Hire Sales College, and for Antioch plant coater operator training that resulted in significant measurable results. Additionally, Mohawk Greenworks training, which involved the entire sales team, staff, through plant personal, was singled out as an example of training tied to company objectives.
Collectively, the Mohawk Learning organizations cross all divisions of Mohawk, including Dal-tile University, Mohawk Home, Logistics, Customer Service, Human Resources, Safety, and Mohawk University.
“Just to make this list is a high achievement," said Mike Zoellner, vice president of learning development. "To be recognized as one of the top education organizations in American Business is a major honor—and a reflection of the ideas and work that Mohawk University employees put into our program. Training and education is a critical part of our partnership with Mohawk dealers and employees, and it becomes more important as our business becomes more competitive.”
In addition to Mohawk, Shaw Industries, and the Tandus Group (Collins & Aikman) were also ranked in the top 100. “This recognition and the efforts of the Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) CEU program really serve to underscore this industry’s commitment to training and education,” Zoellner said.
