Mixed Information on September Home Prices

Washington, DC, Nov. 29, 2011 -- U.S. home prices either rose or fell in September, depending on whom you believe.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency said home prices increased 0.9% on a seasonally adjusted basis in September, which reduced the year-over-year decline to 3.7%.

However, the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index showed a 0.6% decline on the month and a 3.6% year-on-year drop.

August's data from the FHFA was revised down to show a 0.2% decline.
