La Grange, GA, Sept. 8--Milliken Carpet and Rugs has entered into a licensing agreement for carpet tiles, broadloom and outdoor mats with TLC’s Trading Spaces. TLC is a network of Discovery Communications, Inc.
Beginning in the fourth quarter this year, Milliken will utilize the Trading Spaces brand to promote its current and forthcoming soft-surface floorcovering products.
The Legato Carpet System by Milliken and the Tesserae Carpet System by Milliken--two new do-it-yourself carpet tile products--are the first products Milliken will promote under the license. Legato, recently featured on an episode of “Trading Spaces: Family,” is sold exclusively through The Home Depot, while Tesserae can be found at carpet specialty stores nationwide. Display signage will mirror the current packaging for the Trading Spaces home décor product line.
“Milliken’s relationship with Trading Spaces is a significant win for both parties. The carpet panel system’s innovation, value and simple installation are a perfect fit with the show's underlying themes of ease, affordability, and homeowner creativity,” said Eric Dunkelberg, Milliken Carpet & Rugs’ director of new ventures.
As Milliken rolls out new products under the highly recognized Trading Spaces brand, there will be many opportunities for retailers to get in on the ground floor.
Trading Spaces, a remake of the BBC’s “Changing Rooms,” involves two sets of neighbors who swap homes for 48 hours and completely redecorate one room in each other’s place. The neighbors are armed with $1,000 and the help of a professional designer. The show draws an average prime time Saturday audience of more than four million.
