Milliken Moving Positions from Georgia to SC

Spartanburg, SC, April 29, 2010--Milliken & Co. is relocating 40 high-level and support jobs from its Design Center at its Global Floor Covering Division in LaGrange, Ga., to its headquarters complex in Spartanburg.

The company said the move will enable the company to better serve customer needs in the floor covering, or carpet, markets and house the business leadership of all its major divisions under one roof.

“We’re moving positions, not reducing positions,” said Richard Dillard, company spokesman. “It’s not a cost reduction move. It’s a significant investment.”

About 1,100 employees will remain in manufacturing facilities in LaGrange. The Design Center will be vacated. 

“The Floor Covering Division is a key business in our long-term strategy,” he said. “The combination of major manufacturing investment with state-of-the-art equipment and a world-class workforce make LaGrange a natural fit for us,” he said.

The move is expected to be completed by the first part of August.
