Milliken Contract Launches Senior Living Line
LaGrange, GA, May 18, 2007--Milliken Carpet launched a new collection of flooring products at the Assisted Living Federation Association Conference in Dallas this week called Designed for Senior Living. And it is just that. Designed for Senior Living was developed by forming the Milliken Senior Living Design Council. This Council is an advisory board consisting of members from the Senior Living design community, Senior Living facility managers, and Milliken product design and marketing. The council assisted Milliken’s Research and Design team to become aligned with the needs of the Senior Living market including color and pattern selection.“I applaud Milliken for looking outside the box and recognizing the potential impact that Senior Living communities will have in the market. You had the insight to identify, explore and now execute the unique market requirements that we all have devoted and been passionate about for years. It is so gratifying to know that you have involved designers instead of introducing product and telling us it can be used in Senior Living. You have made my job more credible with your awareness to the industry so we are not lumped in with Healthcare or Hospitality “, states Wendy Adam, Owner / Designer of Studio 38, Inc.
Susan Isbill, Interior Design Senior Manager with THW states, “This product is so needed. It is exciting for us to have a manufacturer recognize the need for this development. “
Designed for Senior Living provides a single source product selection that is aesthetically pleasing while promoting a comfortable healing environment. The innovative collections of patterns and colors offer superior aesthetics and performance that reduces design time and cost of product selection. Designed for Senior Living offers more than 2,700 standard sku’s divided into six style families: Historic Reference, Modern Classics, Organic Motifs, Arts & Crafts, Natural Illusions, and Architectonic.
Historic Reference: designs that feel comfortable, yet interesting. They have the detail inherent in traditional design, with graceful, flowing lines. These patterns have a universal feeling or timelessness, helping to create a harmonious environment. There are eleven design packages with six to eight colors available in each design package.
Modern Classics: design classics that bridge the gap between traditional and modern. These patterns have a sense of rhythm and incorporate simple design elements. Transitional in nature, these patterns have broad appeal and can easily be used in a wide variety of interior settings. Modern Classics has twelve design packages. Each package is offered in six to eight colors.
Organic Motifs: literally inspired by nature, by flowers, leaves and branches. The designs have a richness of color, with a range of design complexity from very simple, leaves drawn with flowing lines to complex tapestry-inspired bouquets. These patterns have an aesthetic simplicity, with a fresh joyful outlook. There are ten design packages offered in six to eight colors each.
Arts & Crafts: with stylized motifs and sophisticated color, these patterns have poetry of their own. Inspiration came from the great designers and builders of the era, Frank Lloyd Wright, William Morris, Erte, Charles Rennie MacIntosh. Their component shapes are graceful, built through repetition with variation, and include simple geometric motifs. This category is a bridge between design and architecture. These patterns will work well in contemporary settings, and will thrive in interiors with natural light and open space. Arts & Crafts has eleven design packages with six to eight colors offered in each package.
Natural Illusions: in these faux natural patterns, carpet masquerades as other materials... with a sense of humor. Designs were inspired by wicker baskets, weathered stone flooring, terra cotta and brick, even by a grassy field. These patterns will give the designer options to create unusual, unexpected and fun spaces. Natural Illusions has six designs and a total of twenty eight colors.
Architectonic: patterns inspired by geometry, ranging from simple classic shapes to interlocking puzzle designs. Many of these patterns were inspired by the proportions of natural or building materials such as basket weave textiles or the concentric circles of mosaic tiles. Architectonic has eleven designs and eighty - three colors.
