Midwest Business Activity Surges in December
Chicago, IL, Dec. 30, 2009--Midwest business activity expanded far more than expected in December, according to a report by the Institute for Supply Management.
The report is likely to boost optimism in the economic recovery.
The Chicago-area business barometer rose to 60.0 from 56.1 in November. Economists had forecast of reading of 55.0.
A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the regional economy.
