Michigan, Indiana Tile Mart Stores Closing

Benton Harbor, MI, June 2, 2011 -- The five Tile Mart stores in Michigan and Indiana will close soon as the owner retires, according to Michigan Business Review.

Owner Ted Smith told the newspaper that a drastic downturn in the building industry “compounded by repeated banking acquisitions and unsound decisions by large national banks have made this move necessary.”

Smith said he plans to close his Carpet Unlimited store in Benton Harbor along with the Tile Mart stores in Benton Harbor, Holland, Holt, Indianapolis and Portage.
