Michigan Flooring Business Expands

Jackson, MI, November 3, 2005--Bob Doyle's flooring empire is expanding, according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot. "We had a strong commercial business before," said Doyle, who owns the Empire Group with Joe Ellison. "Now we're going after the residential business a lot more." The Empire Group moved from a 1,000-square-foot building at 1214 Wildwood Ave. to a 6,000-square-foot-building at 350 N. Wisner St. in mid-September and had a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week. The Empire Group also joined the Flooring American buying group recently so it can stock a wider variety of residential flooring products and offer more competitive pricing, Doyle said. "We're just excited to offer an extended product line," Doyle said. "Now we have a nice, beautiful showroom and people can come in and make their selection." Tony Pusey is back in the flooring business with a new business name. Pusey, owner of the former Carpet America, is now owner of House of Floors at 1202 Wildwood Ave. He said the new name will help distinguish it from Flooring America. "I was looking for an excuse to change the name anyway," Pusey said. "It really represents who we are and what we do." Carpet America was closed in August for failure to pay state sales taxes. Pusey opened House of Floors two weeks ago and said he is working on a repayment plan.
