Miami’s Traz Powell Stadium Chooses FieldTurf

Miami, FL, July 18, 2006--Traz Powell Stadium, the site of Miami-Dade County's important sporting events, will be resurfaced with FieldTurf. The 105,000 square foot venue located on the north campus of Miami-Dade College has hosted numerous football practices for the Miami Hurricanes football team among many other events. With the installation of FieldTurf's engineered system, Miami Dade County School District athletes will be able to benefit from an exclusive monofilament system that is receiving rave reviews throughout the industry. FieldTurf's exclusive monofilament system gives resilience to the filament but keeps the fiber supple and soft which creates an ideal surface for athletes of all ages. The FieldTurf system is more durable in comparative tests and has been proven to remain looking like natural grass under heavy traffic. "We're obviously very pleased that the people at Miami-Dade County have chosen FieldTurf for their impressive venue," said John Gilman, CEO of FieldTurf Tarkett. "We will give Miami-Dade and their teams a state-of-the-art FieldTurf surface for their use. We appreciate the confidence that everyone involved in this project has shown in FieldTurf, and we are determined to deliver a product that shows why FieldTurf is the undisputed world leader in artificial turf." FieldTurf is currently in use in more than 25 NCAA Division 1-A football stadiums including Boston College, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington, Louisville, Missouri and Rutgers. More than 450 high school stadiums use FieldTurf and four of the top 10 teams in the United States play on FieldTurf. In Major League Baseball and in Major League Soccer / A-League, 100% of the stadiums with artificial turf selected FieldTurf over the competition. Twenty-two of the NFL's 32 teams currently use FieldTurf at their stadiums and/or their practice facilities.
