May Distributive Trade Sales & Manufacturers' Shipments Up Slightly

Washington, DC, July 15, 2015—The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for May was estimated at $1,323.6 billion, up 0.4% from April 2015, but was down 2.2% from May 2014, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Manufacturers’ and trade inventories were estimated at an end-of-month level of $1,797.8 billion, up 0.3% from April 2015 and were up 2.4% from May 2014.

The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of May was 1.36. The May 2014 ratio was 1.30.
