May Chain Store Sales Better Than Expected

New York, NY, May 23, 2012 -- National chain store sales fell 0.9% in the first three weeks of May from April, according to Redbook Research.

That compared with an expected 1.1% decline.

Redbook also said that seasonally adjusted sales for the period were up 3% from last year, compared with a 2.8% expected gain.
