Max Petrich, Former Carousel Carpet Pres., Dies

Santa Rosa, CA, Nov. 19--Max Petrich, beloved husband of the late Lucy A. Petrich, passed away on Friday, Nov. 14 in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 76. He was born June 27, 1927 and raised in San Francisco, CA. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945 and attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Max Petrich started his career 56 years ago in the carpet industry working his way up the corporate ladder to senior management for Karastan Carpet Mills in New York. Recognizing the potential in high-end rug and carpet manufacturing, he acquired Carousel Carpet Mills, a small mill in Ukiah and moved his family to California in 1970. During Max's 33-year tenure as President, the company became one of the most esteemed, high-end manufacturers in the world. His products have graced the covers and interior pages of the most prestigious magazines available. Through Petrich's leadership Carousel's manufacturing campus has grown three fold. Additionally, Max had the foresight to open Galleria Floors, Ltd in San Francisco in 1976. Galleria Floors caters solely to the interior design trade in the prestigious San Francisco Design Center where high-end carpets and area rugs are sold from the world over. Max lived a very full life; one characterized by energy, passion, vision and dedication. He is survived by daughters Denice Spencer, Debra Galli, Laura Whiting and Joan Petrich; sons-in-law Steve Spencer, James Galli and John Whiting; six grandchildren Michael, Kevin, Matthew, Bryan, Andrew, and Leigh; brother, Richard D. Petrich; six nephews and a niece. Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 11:00 am at Eversole Mortuary located at 141 Low Gap Road in Ukiah, CA.
