Masland To Use Dow's Lomax Technology

Dalton, GA, Nov. 20, 2008– Masland Contract will use Dow Chemical's Lomax in the manufacturing of its latex carpet backing systems.

Currently, this technology involves the usage of landfill gas (methane) as a renewable energy source. Dow has replaced more than 90 percent of its fossil fuel demand, which results in a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Dow is the primary supplier of latex used as part of the backing for all Masland Contract broadloom products.  With Lomax Technology, Dow will use over 200 billion Btus annually of landfill gas and reduce emissions of approximately 25 million pounds of carbon dioxide per year.
