Manufacturing Contracts Slightly in August

Tempe, AZ, Sept. 4, 2012 -- The Institute for Supply Management’s U.S. factory index edged lower to 49.6 in August from 49.8 in July.

Economists projected an August reading of 50, which is the line between expansion and contraction.
