Manufacturing Continues To Expand in May
Tempe, AZ, June 1, 2010--Manufacturing conditions fell slightly in May after reaching their highest level in almost six years in April, the Institute for Supply Management reported Tuesday.
The ISM index fell to a better than expected 59.7% in May from 60.4% in April.
The consensus forecast of estimates was for the index to fall to 59.0%. Readings above 50% indicate expansion.
The key employment index improved to 59.8 in May from April's 58.5%. New-orders held steady at 65.7% in May.
