Mannington Wins Recycling Award

Salem, NJ, Oct. 31--Mannington Mills, a flooring manufacturer located in Salem, NJ, was recently honored with a recycling award from the Association of New Jersey Recyclers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for Source Waste Reduction and Resource Management. The company was recognized at a luncheon before a large audience of state officials and New Jersey's recycling community, for its elimination of EPA-listed chemical use and their sweeping reduction of hazardous waste generated, both of which have been decreased by more than 98% over the last ten years. Mannington's process of reusing the scrap from various sheet flooring production lines as a raw material for the separate vinyl composition tile product was noted as well. Reusing this scrap replaces the use of virgin raw materials and keeps it out of the landfill. This environmental award acknowledges the continuous improvements at Mannington as they pursue their noble goal of being a true net user of waste.
