Mannington Stops Sales of Some Wood in Canada
Salem, NJ, Jan. 20, 2012 -- Mannington said it is joining Shaw and Anderson and is halting shipments to Canada of hardwood flooring that is produced partly by prison labor.
Shaw and Anderson recently discovered that Canadian law prohibits the importation of any products produced using prison labor, whether the labor is volunteer or forced.
The flooring companies use volunteer labor to produce handscrape visuals.
For all three companies, the suspension of shipments affects only a small portion of Canadian sales.
