Mannington Receives SHARP Safety Award for 2nd Str

High Point, NC, December 4, 2006--For the second year in a row, Mannington Mills, a leading manufacturer of fine flooring, has received the SHARP Safety Award from the North Carolina Department of Labor. SHARP, which stands for Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, rewards companies that develop and maintain effective health and safety programs. “We’re honored to again receive this recognition,” said Tony Shaw, safety and environmental manager at Mannington Mills in High Point. “It tells us that we are doing all the right things to ensure the well being of our associates and the community around us.” To obtain this award, Mannington provided detailed reports to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regarding training procedures, equipment usage, and operations. Also under consideration are the company’s illness and injury reports, as well as the policies and programs instituted to ensure safety. “We are already ISO Certified, and that is a big advantage in securing the SHARP recognition because we already have so many effective safety and quality checks in place,” said Shaw. The award was presented on December 1 to associates at the Mannington Laminate facility in High Point today by Cherie Berry, North Carolina Commissioner of Labor. In presenting the award, Berry said that “Mannington is part of an elite safety group,” and thanked everyone involved for their outstanding achievements.
