Mannington Gets New Jersey Environmental Award

Salem, NJ,  May 13, 2008 – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has recognized Mannington Mills for its efforts focusing on environmental responsibility.

The Environmental Stewardship Program, developed by the NJDEP, publicly acknowledges the efforts of a few specific companies in the state whose practices routinely exceed requirements and regulations. 

Mannington was one of three New Jersey companies praised for its achievements.

Mannington was also among the companies involved in the development of the program.

Under the stewardship guidelines, companies are evaluated by NJDEP on their overall environmental policies as well as other factors, such as:  programs aimed at reducing emissions and greenhouse gases; conservation of water and energy; reduced hazardous waste; encouraging green building and construction; and requiring vendors to adopt strong environmental practices.  It also looks at internal initiatives such as effective environmental management systems, and property and habitat enhancements.
