Mannington Donates Materials to Local School

Sumter County, AL, Nov. 13--Mannington Wood Floors has made a major renovation to Sumter County High School possible, according to the Sumter County Journal-Record. The SCHS building is over 80 years old. The building currently houses 366 students from the ninth to the twelfth grades, in addition to faculty and staff. The floor in the auditorium and the hallway adjacent to it has become damaged over the years due to exposure to run-off from rain. A leak in the heating system, which is in the process of being repaired added to the problem. A carpeting project called for the wood floor of the auditorium to be covered several years ago. Superintendent Lula Larkin called the carpeting project a “big mistake” because the carpet caused the wood floor to stay continually wet. Due to budget cuts from the state level, it is likely that the extensive renovation of the floor might have been put on hold indefinitely without the help of Mannington Wood Floors.
