Mannington Commercial Names Design Winner

Chicago, IL, June 17, 2009--After garnering more than 460,000 votes in its inaugural tx:style design competition, Mannington Commercial awarded its grand prize to Squareberry, a pattern created by Megan Webb of Nashville.

“In February, nearly a quarter of a million votes were cast to select six beautiful designs as finalists,” says Natalie Jones, vice president of commercial brand development.

“Six inspiring, creative young designers whose talent far exceeds their experience were chosen out of 440 design entrants.”

As top prize winner, Webb receives $7,500 and her design will be developed in the coming months, in collaboration with Mannington’s product development team, into a full production line of commercial carpet with a launch date into market of early 2010.

“Tx:style has been the most successful online social networking of its kind in our industry, and looking forward we see huge potential for opening up product design up to the public and engaging designers for immediate feedback,” says Jones.

“The transparency that the competition made possible, as well as new ways to collaborate with designers, has been inspiring.”

In addition to continuing the tx:style design competition next year, Jones said that Mannington intends to expand the platform this summer to include other opportunities for product generation, collaborative design development and customer feedback.

The expanding tx:style platform, along with other design tools, are made available through Mannington’s retooled and relaunched website, manningtoncommercial.com.
