Mannington Commercial Launches New Healthcare Plat

Calhoun, GA, January 27--Mannington Commercial introduces BioTec, a revolutionary new floorcovering platform that solves a vast array of flooring challenges in healthcare facilities. BioTec has a technically superior soft surface with a resilient base structure that enhances the home-like comfort and aesthetics of any healthcare facility, according to the company. BioTec consists of two loop patterns: BioForm, a stylized floral design, and BioFocus, a more abstract pattern. The products are composed of INVISTA type 6,6 nylon treated on the face with ColorSafe bleach resistant technology and treated on both the face and back with MCare antimicrobial technology. The 1/12 gauge carpet is presented in 12’ width with 9’ width available for corridors. The 12 colorways coordinate with BioSpec homogenous sheet flooring. In 1999 Mannington Commercial identified the need to design hard and soft surface flooring systems with appropriate designs and applications for healthcare environments. As a sustaining member of CHER (Coalition for Health Environment Research) and a commitment to the healthcare evolution with the LifeCare Advisory Council, Mannington believes in evidence-based research to support the development of products for healthcare facilities. Clinical and market research shows that softer surfaces are not only safer for patients in healthcare environments, but they create a more harmonious and cozy atmosphere that promotes better healing. And, those same studies suggest a much higher level of patient satisfaction. Most important, the resulting marriage of surface and backing allows chemically welded seams of BioTec to BioSpec homogenous sheet flooring. Now, designers and specifiers gain the opportunity to eliminate transition moldings between flooring surfaces thus providing a moisture barrier for an aseptic environment. Chemically welded seams are superior in lateral strength to standard carpet backing and increase ease of mobility with less inertia for rolling movement. The revolutionary construction allows for frequent maintenance with drastically reduced drying times.
