Mannington Carpet Tile Earn SCS Sustainable Choice

Salem, NJ, April 13, 2007--All Mannington Commercial modular carpet tile products using the Infinity RE backing system have earned certification under one of the strictest environmental standards, SCS Sustainable Choice-Platinum/EPP Certification, the company announced today.  Sustainable Choice certification is based on the NSF-140-2005, Sustainable Carpet Assessment Draft Standard, a consensus-driven standard developed by interior designers and specifiers, government agencies, academics, non-governmental organizations and the carpet industry.    “Achieving Platinum level to this robust standard provides more evidence about our environmental commitments,” says Dave Kitts, Mannington’s VP-Environment. “Standards give credible information to a market hungry for improved environmental performance in products, and provide guidance to manufacturers such as Mannington looking to continually improve.”   In addition, the Infinity RE backed products meet California Platinum EPP.  This certifies that the flooring meets the State of California’s “Gold” EPP requirements, which includes additional requirements beyond the SCS standards regarding post-consumer recycle content, indoor air quality performance, life cycle assessment, and product reclamation.   Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) is an independent third-party provider of certification, auditing and testing services, and standards.
