Mannington Acknowledged by IDCE

Salem, NJ, June 21, 2006--Mannington has received third party acknowledgement of its commitment to sustainability through the Corporate Sustainability Rating System offered by the International Design Center for the Environment (IDCE) and the Sustainable Research Group (SRG). The system helps manufacturers evaluate their progress to the Triple Bottom Line with a template for review in environmental, social and economic responsibility. "The innovative rating system allowed an evaluation of over one hundred topical areas within the entire Mannington organization to assess progress, successes, and future opportunities for improvement," says Dave Kitts, Mannington vice president, environment. IDCE is a non-profit organization whose mission is to integrate environmental stewardship, economic performance and social equity into the design, construction, and furnishings of buildings in corporations, campuses, and communities. SRG is a consulting firm that teaches manufacturers, and others, how to improve Triple Bottom Line performance in their organizations. "The system requires CEO/president sign-off, therefore, it engaged our senior most leadership. The topic of sustainability is complex and far reaching. It's hard for customers and other stakeholders to get their arms around which companies are heading in the right direction versus those that are slipping or in a holding-pattern. The system, or index, is one helpful touchpoint in this evaluation," continued Kitts. Mannington Commercial is a leading innovator in carpet, vinyl composition tile, sheet vinyl, advanced composite flooring and performance backings. As the only U.S. manufacturer supplying both soft and hard surface products to the contract market, Mannington is a one-source for flooring solutions.
