Major Resilient Makers Combine Training in Event

Kansas City, MO, April 5, 2012 -- Certified Floorcovering Installers and the World Floor Covering Association held a resilient certification training event in Baltimore last month that brought together the largest resilient manufacturers to form one educational unit.

Organizers said it was a first for the industry.

"I have been in this business for 35 years and I never thought I would see the day that the largest resilient manufacturers in the world would come together to form one educational unit," said Jerry Murphy, regional manager for Fishman Solutions.

"With the manufacturers placing their logos aside and working side by side with the CFI instructors, we are all focused on a mission.  This is indeed an historic event.”

Manufacturer representatives included Rick Herr, Tony Pastrana and Tim Provence from Armstrong; Joe Cea and Ed Justice from Congoleum; Kevin Flannigan from IVC; Dick Schmidt from Johnsonite; Terry Fitzpatrick, Ron Wheel and Bill Wiese from Mannington and Jeff Silfies from Tarkett.  Distributor representatives included Jerry Murphy from Fishman Solutions and Tim McAdoo from J. J. Haines.

Twenty-one resilient flooring installers took part in the event.

“I would love to see the carpet, ceramic, laminate and wood manufacturers all step up and sanction one certification as the resilient flooring manufacturers are doing," Murphy said.
