Lumber Liquidators Hits 'Perfect' Ad Placement

Detroit, MI, June 4, 2010--It pays to be in the right place at the right time. It's just hard to tell when that might be.

Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga’s unlucky loss of a perfect game due to a bad call turned out to be retailer Lumber Liquidators’ gain.

The last pitch of the game was replayed thousands of times across the country, and the Lumber Liquidators huge yellow ad was featured prominently in the background behind the batter.

“It’s been crazy,” Tom Sullivan, the Boston native who founded the national hardwood flooring retailer, told the Boston Herald. “Everyone’s been calling up and saying, ‘Did you see it? Did you see the sign?’” The sign "Hardwood Floors For Less" just happened to rotate into place at Detroit's Comerica Park.

Thursday, CNBC pronounced Lumber Liquidators as the “biggest winner” of the imperfect game of ad placement.
