Lowe's To Open New Texas Data Center

Mooresville, NC, June 29, 2006--Lowe's said it will locate a new data center in San Antonio, Texas. The facility represents an approximate $60 million investment including land, building and equipment. The facility will serve as a core component of the company's computer processing, critical data storage and information technology systems. "As Lowe's continues to expand across the country with the addition of 155 new stores in fiscal 2006 and between 150-160 new stores in fiscal 2007, we're continuing to grow our information technology infrastructure to support our expanding store base," explained Steve Stone, Lowe's senior vice president of information technology and chief information officer. "In concert with our data center in Winston-Salem, N.C., the San Antonio facility will help meet our current and future information technology needs." The data center is expected to employ approximately 20 to 25 people, with room for expansion. The center is expected to be operational by mid-2007.
