Mooresville, NC, July 21--Lowe's will expand its regional distribution center (RDC) in Statesville, N.C.
The expansion is an approximate $12 million investment for Lowe's and will create 50 new jobs. The regional distribution center currently employs approximately 800 people.
Lowe's 1.15 million square-foot Statesville regional distribution center opened in 1996. The expansion includes an addition of 324,000 square feet. It will allow the distribution center to handle additional inventory, including major appliances. Construction is underway and is expected be completed by spring 2006.
The Statesville regional distribution center supplies products to approximately 140 Lowe's stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Virginia. The facility expansion will continue to meet the company's growing store base. Lowe's nationwide distribution network includes 11 regional distribution centers.
