Lowe's Announces Location for New Data Center

Mooresville, NC, January 14-- Lowe's announced today it will locate its new data center in Winston-Salem. The new data center is the hub for the company's computer processing and information technology operations. It will have redundant power and telecommunication sources and the capacity to expand to meet the company's growing information technology needs. "Our existing data center in Wilkes County has served Lowe's well for 20 years, but as the company grows, extended capacity is needed," explained Steve Stone, Lowe's senior vice president of information technology and chief information officer. "We have been evaluating sites in metropolitan areas for several months, and believe the Winston-Salem location can best meet our current and future needs, while being conveniently located to our operations in Wilkesboro and Mooresville." The data center is expected to employ approximately 20 to 25 people, with room for expansion. The center is expected to be operational by mid-2005.
