L&M Concrete Products Pass Green Ratings

Omaha, NE, May 24, 2010--Five of L&M Construction Chemicals products used on concrete floors in schools and hospitals have passed the requirements in LEED and the CHPS green rating systems, the company said.

"We've seen the studies that show kids achieve better test scores and earn more after graduation when their learning environment is greener and free of indoor contaminants," said Greg Schwietz, President of L&M Construction Chemicals.

The testing was conducted following the procedures described by the California Department of Health Services (CDHS), which is the benchmark that CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) uses to determine a low-VOC-emitting building product for use in schools.

By passing the tests, the five L&M products gained a spot on the CHPS High Performance Products Database, a reference tool for project teams who want to specify products that comply with the indoor environmental quality requirements in CHPS, LEED for Schools, and soon LEED for Healthcare, a new USGBC program now in the public comment process.

Three of the five tested by Berkeley Analytical Associates are used for the installation, coloring or maintenance of a polish concrete floor system; they were FGS Hardener Plus,  FGS Concrete Conditioner, and VIVID Dye.  Other products products tested were Sealhard and Lion Hard.
