Leading Indicators Show Continued Slow Growth

New York, NY, Aug. 20, 2012 -- The Conference Board said Friday that its leading economic index grew 0.4% in July.

Though the rise in the index was stronger than the 0.3% forecast by economists, it comes after June and May figures were revised down.

The Conference Board said the index fell 0.4% in June and rose 0.3% in May, with both months a tenth of a percentage point worse than previously reported.

It's likely growth will remain slow through the end of 2012, said Ken Goldstein, an economist at The Conference Board.
