Leading Economic Indicators Up Sharply in October

New York, NY, November 20, 2015 -- The Conference Board's Leading Economic Index rose 0.6 percent to 124.1 in October after falling in September. It was the best reading since June.

Analysts expected the index would rise by 0.5. The index fell 0.2 percent in September.

Stock prices and building permits largely drove the increase, said Ataman Ozyildirim, director of business cycles and growth research at The Conference Board.

He said the U.S. economy remains on track for continued expansion heading.
